I stayed there over for 5 days and even though the weather was so cold, the ranch was full of warmth from the owners down to the each and every guest. The other guests were so much fun, everyone meet in the lodge and between games and visiting, it was a great time. We rode everyday even though it was misty and cold. The views made you forget the cold and watching Si & Rusty work with the horses and their riders was amazing. The Running R Ranch knows it horses and matches each one up to the right rider. These folks care about the ranch, it's personal to them, not a business.Ever little need of a guest was looked into immediately. Rusty and Si are very entertaining, whether singing along the trail or telling stories around the camp fire.The new owners, Roger and Sara, are wonderful people and they have great plans to improve the ranch and bring it back to life. They plan to keep it;s down home atmosphere, but a fresh look with lots more entertainment.If you want a spa, room service and fancy dining, you won't find it here. But if you want to be part of the ranch, feeding & brushing horses, lazy days and star filled nights by the fire, THIS IS YOUR KIND OF RANCH! Cincinnati, Ohio, US - 14.01.2012, 16:15 Tricia and Kirsten We loved our visit to the Running R Ranch. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and like family. Ranch foreman Rusty and wrangler Si are the real deal. They know their horses and make you feel like you know horses, too. Amy is a lovely person and extremely helpful -- we must have called her a dozen times before arrival and she was always cheerful. The ranch cook whips up some very good, authentic ranch-style eats. You won't be hungry! New owner Roger has great plans to add new events for the ranch. We rode during the first wet coldsnap the ranch had seen in years, but it was still a thrill. Muddy, cold, windy, and just plain wonderful. Our cabin was comfortable and we had a great view of the Texas Hill Country in every direction. Get up early and help feed and groom the horses. Or check out the sunrise from the ranch house front porch. These folks treat you right. Just returned from a fantabulous weekend. Ragin' Cajun was the perfect horse! The owners were concerned for our safety and made sure we were well hydrated out there on the range. Accommodations were comfortable, the pool was refreshing and the food was filling! A once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not sure what was the most fun, watching the cattle pretty much do their own thing, watching several "cowboys" chasing the cattle through the brush, actually herding the cattle, or sleeping in the bed of my truck with the moon & stars overhead. Regardless it was a great weekend. Never been on a horse before. Great people, food and beds. They made us feel very comfortable. I recommend to go now before it gets too hot. I decided we needed to experience Texas...so we came to the Running R Ranch for lunch and a 2 hr horseback ride. We had the best time here! Weather was beautiful and everyone at the ranch is friendly. Definately will be back! And as a first timer on a horse..i cant wait to come back!!
