It was more than just a vacation to us. It was like having a home away from home and being amongst friend from the first day on. To us it seems that the Running-R-Ranch, the State Park, surrounding Hill Country and the still authentic Cowboy Capital of the World "Bandera" is the perfect combination to experience the real Wild West lifestyle. Needless to say that we worked on plans how to come back next year again on our way over to Houston Airport already. I had a hunch that we would enjoy ourselves and am glad that we were able to extend our stay to 5 nights (instead of just 2). Victoria is already trying to pin me down for dates for our next trip there! She used to think I was pretty knowledgeable about horses, but now that she's met Melissa, Anita and Lou, she realizes how much I don't know. My last trail ride on Dancer was, for me, as close to perfect as you can get. The rain coming down through the bright sunshine was really fun! And I felt like Dancer would have taken care of me through anything we encountered. It's been a long time since I've felt that secure on a horse. To: Melissa, ‘Nita and Dale, thanks for the great rides. To the ladies in the kitchen: Thanks for those five extra pounds; I didn’t need them but I sure did enjoy packing ‘em on. To Lou: you’re simply amazing – thank you for everything! To Jessie and Tommy: when I grow up I want to be just like you. And last but not least (should he ever happen to read this message board) to Doo: I am so glad my visit coincided with your brief return from retirement. You were one of my favorite parts of the first visit five years ago and will always remain one of the most memorable parts from this visit. Watch out for those ‘bombshells’!To potential future guests: I can’t say enough good things about the folks at Running R. This is truly a class act. The horses are happy, healthy and well behaved, the wranglers are knowledgeable, friendly and extremely obliging. The accommodations and meals are excellent and the ranch itself is beautiful. If you’re looking for a “Guest Ranch” vacation, look no further.Can’t wait to come back! Our two days of trail riding were terrific. Thanks to Wranglers, Melissa and Annita for showing us the way and making sure that we were safe. Thanks to Lou for her persistence with the park to let us ride there, it really is beautiful.The food and accomodations were just what I was hoping for - delicious, plentiful, and comfortable. I have to say that a good time was had by all. I am recommending the Running R Ranch to all of my friends.
